Level 2 (L2), which charges an EV in 3-8 hours is often sited in longer-term parking scenarios like office and multi-family buildings.
There are currently 3 main EV charging types — Level 1 (L1), which is mainly for home use and takes 17-20 hours to charge an EV, Level 2 (L2), which charges an EV in 3-8 hours is often sited in longer-term parking scenarios like office and multi-family buildings and DC Fast Charging (DCFC) which can charge an EV in an hour and is often located in buildings with high visitor turnover like shopping malls, coffee shops and near highways. Because of the power required to charge a vehicle in a shorter time, the faster the charger e.g. DCFC, the more expensive a charger is both in terms of hardware and in electrical upgrades.
