What are the downsides of community solar?

Community solar doesn’t come with the tax benefits (think Investment Tax Credit) or environmental attributes (think Renewable Energy Credits or RECs) of owning a solar system.

The financial benefits will be often lower than a PPA- and All-Cash financed system and further limited to the subscription amount and term. Community solar is also not available in all areas and if you have a single meter, it may not be possible to subscribe to community solar and install a solar system simultaneously.
